Manchester & Lancashire FHS is a registered charity which was established in 1964. It is run entirely by volunteers.

Indexing of local registers is a major project which has already been running for several years and which will continue for some years to come. The society receives no income from the LancashireBMD site which is operated on a "pro bono" basis.
